Mount Isa Volunteer Area Committee...

Mount Isa with a population of approx 22,000 is the regional district centre for the North West of Queensland. The Local Government area comprises some 42,000 sq km and stretches approx 200km E to W and a similar distance N to S. The city is located approx 900 km W of Townsville, 500 km S of the Gulf of Carpentaria and 200 km from the NT border at Camooweal.
Being the regional centre Mount Isa provides essential services such as health, education, welfare, emergency police, justice and law and order and is the centre of the police district.
